CO2e Emissions for Transit
What is CO2e?
CO2e stands for CO2 equivalent. The official metric is defined here.
In short, global warming is caused by multiple greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), etc, and each GHG has different warming potential or impact. Different processes emit different quantities and mixes of greenhouse gases.
The goal of CO2e is to quantify all of this into one single metric to make it easier to compare the warming impact across different activities.
MineHub's Methodology for Measurement
We are using the GLEC Framework to calculate per-shipment emissions.
The framework was created to measure the CO2e associated with the logistics GHG footprint across the multi-modal supply chain.
The calculation available in the platform captures the Scope 3 CO2e emissions tied to the transportation of material. This does not account for Scope 3 emissions related to the upstream production of the material. Please contact our team zt support@minehub.com if you are interested in leveraging MineHub for production factor emissions.
Troubleshooting
If you have a shipment that does not have a CO2e calculation, ensure that the required fields are provided:
- Origin Location
- Destination Location
- Conveyance Type (Rail, Vessel, Truck)
If all required data fields are present, there may be some additional setup that the MineHub customer success team needs to do to enable calculations. Please reach out to us at support@minehub.com
